CyberSource Corporation (NASDAQ: CYBS) announced today it has been named to provide electronic payment solutions for the University of California, Los Angeles. The university has selected the packaged software program CyberSource Payment Manager to serve as its processing engine to centralize all credit card payments made to the university, including payments for tuition, housing, parking, event tickets, and pre-paid debit instruments known as BruinCards. These payments can be made online or through point-of-sale systems. CyberSource Professional Services also designed and built the gateway application that allows campus payment centers easy migration to the new system.
The new UCLA system, called CyberPay, with CyberSource Payment Manager as its foundation, was built around a Microsoft Web Services architecture using .Net technology. CyberPay allows the UCLA Corporate Financial Services Department to manage all campus credit card transactions, no matter what computer platform is used at a particular site. Financial control is now centralized in Corporate Financial Services, the group ultimately responsible for the university's financial management.
"We've seen strong interest from higher education customers," said Perry Dembner, CyberSource vice-president, marketing. "Colleges and universities have grown dozens of entry points for credit card and other payments, including new eCommerce services, and now are looking to centralize those for control. CyberSource gives them a single point of contact to effectively manage electronic payments."
