CyberSource Request Token API Field
CyberSource has implemented an API field called Request Token that will facilitate new and enhanced functionality, as well as faster and more fault-tolerant transaction processing. Implementation of Request Token may require minimal changes to specific CyberSource integrations and provides important back-end enhancements to processing your payment transactions.

CyberSource initially notified merchants that Request Token implementation was necessary by June 1, 2007. As a result of customer feedback about this enhancement, CyberSource is delaying implementation until further notice.

In order to preserve all real-time capture response functionality, CyberSource is re-engineering the Request Token architecture. If you have yet to implement Request Token, please do not do so until further notice. If you have already implemented Request Token, you need do nothing at this time; real-time capture responses will be returned to you once the re-engineering effort is complete.

Important upgrade to improve online processing
Request Token is a "retain and return" field. It is a character hash value returned to you in the authorization response message which you then provide to CyberSource in the capture request message. Request Token provides important linking between authorization and capture messages that reduce dependencies on database queries at capture submission time, and allows CyberSource to separate its authorization and capture platforms for increased scalability and service reliability.
