Cybersource was recently named runner up in both the “Best of Breed” API Awards (Overall API Assessment) and the Developer Roadmap Awards. Learn what that means for businesses like yours.
Digital-first strategies pair nicely with developer-first tools
All the industry buzz and new tech these days are about digital first. Whatever your business, whatever your model, the pandemic has taught us all the importance of having a digital presence that’s underscored by a simple, easy-to-use customer experience (CX).
But for many, the topics of digital and CX never really get out of the concept stage. It’s easy to know what it is you should have or should be doing, but getting that ball rolling, especially when it requires development, can be a challenge.

Digital-first strategies pair nicely with developer-first tools
All the industry buzz and new tech these days are about “digital first.” Whatever your business, whatever your model, the pandemic has taught us all the importance of having a digital presence that’s underscored by a simple, easy-to-use customer experience (CX).
But for many, the topics of digital and CX never really get out of the concept stage. It’s easy to know what it is you should have or should be doing, but getting that ball rolling, especially when it requires development, can be a challenge.
To make that challenge easier, I believe that companies whose products live in the digital realm, such as ours, have a responsibility to provide a “developer-first” strategy—one that includes comprehensive and easy digital blueprints for their offerings so that other companies, regardless of size or developer skillset, can quickly and easily connect to their solutions.
At Cybersource, we have been working tirelessly to really meet the needs of our developers, with the goal of providing that developer-first mindset in the form of our Cybersource Developer Center, which includes an API Reference, developer guides, sample code, sandbox, and more. We have made significant improvements to help developers along the way, and our recent Strawhecker Group (TSG) honors are a great testament to the work we’ve done.
Best of Breed API award
Cybersource was recently named runner-up in both the Best of Breed API Awards (Overall API Assessment) and the Developer Roadmap Awards. For the former, TSG ranked gateways’ overall API experience by evaluating the API Set (APIs offered, response codes, and versioning) with a focus on understandability, functionality, and the need for technical assistance. For the latter, they completed an API Developer Roadmap assessment focused on five key areas that commercial developers may see as roadblocks related to integration and API development.
We are incredibly proud to have received honors in both categories—specifically, the Developer Roadmap is such a great award because it’s an acknowledgement of the fact that we are truly investing in our developer strategy and we have made tremendous progress. There is more work to be done, but this honor helps validate that we’re on the right path.
Our developer platform
I’m excited for the coming digital-first/developer-first future and all that it will entail. We at Cybersource have such a huge global footprint and massive scale that the potential for innovation and partnership with a strong developer platform is truly staggering. We already have developers building solutions that connect to over 100 banking networks in over 50 countries*. And we make that as easy as one API call.
I personally like to call that Developer Experience at Scale, and if the marketing folks will let me get away with it, I’ll call it DX² for short. Ultimately, with the industry trending toward digital customer experiences, combined with our DX² and our commitment to providing world-class support to developers, we have a lot do, but lots of motivation to do it. Check out our Developer Center today!
